Weatherby Lake House

For this assignment, I photographed a Weatherby Lake house for Homejab – a real estate photography company. I used a combination of HDR as well as flambient lighting techniques throughout all the shots. Because of using flambient lighting in addition to HDR the shoot took me only 40 minutes longer than if I were to use only HDR. I am still experimenting with flambient since I am relatively new to the technique. Overall I like both processes but if I had to make a preference I’d say flambient will end up being my go-to process for shootings. I think the images are cleaner, more accurate colors, and less time with editing. Plus, I enjoy the technical learning curve involved with flambient.

HDR requires less time to shoot in camera but not all situations allow for the time required of flambient lighting (which takes about 2-4 minutes per image to shoot). Using both methods when possible provides reassurance that I have everything I need for editing. It may take a bit longer for the shoot but then again it’s better to have backups rather than needing to go back for a shot because lighting conditions weren’t met. I’ve never had to do that but it’s more of a CYA than anything. Overall I am pleased with how these shot s of the Weatherby Lake house turned out but that’s not to say there isn’t room for improvement. Looking forward to the the next assignment coming up.
